On March 23, 2021, the National Security Education Center (NSEC) of the International Probono Legal Services Association held a press conference, "Defaming China is Intolerable" to rebut and clarify matters in relation to the false allegations made by the US Human Rights Watch's "World Human Rights Report 2021" (the Report) about Hong Kong, Xinjiang and Tibet, human rights in China which was published on January 13, 2021

On March 23, 2021, the National Security Education Center held a press conference to refute various fallacies of Human Right issues in China made by the Human Rights Watch.

In the conference, NSEC said the organization was deeply concerned to find it extraordinary that what was basically an anti-China rant has been presented to the world as objective reporting in relation to the human rights situation in China, in particular, Hong Kong situation.

The Report made unfounded accusations about the human rights situation in China. NSEC has extracted some of the typical fallacies of the Report and responded to them one by one, listing the facts and presenting the truth in order to make rectifications.

Kacee Wong TING, a member of the Advisory Committee of the NSEC, delivered formal complaints to the United Nations in relation to the Report.

The Report was tainted by illegality, a lack of proper evaluation methodology, independence and impartiality on the part of the Human Rights Watch, it was said. NSEC further stated that, in the result, the Human Rights Watch's position of consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council has been rendered questionable in light of its incompliance with the relevant ECOSOC Resolution 1996/31 governing the status of NGOs under the supervision of the UN. As such, the NSEC has composed its own report and formal responses, entitled: "The Fallacies About Human Rights Watch's Report and Facts About Human Rights in China". The documents have been posted to the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, UN Economic and Social Council President Munir Akram, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet, (and relevant UN agencies), the mainstream American and other Western media was well as other international human rights NGOs.

The NSEC urges the UN Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations to determine whether the consultative status of Human Rights Watch should be terminated as a result.
